Lieutenant Colonel Tommy M. Guthrie (USA, Ret.) served 32 years in the United States Army and Pennsylvania Army National Guard, retiring in 2024 as a Lieutenant Colonel (Promotable; Department of the Army-Select Colonel, Senate Confirmed). His career spanned the full arc of military leadership — Infantryman, M1 Abrams armor crewman, armor and scout platoon leader, three company commands, battalion executive officer, and Deputy Commander of the 166th Regional Training Institute.

A combat veteran, Guthrie deployed to Italy with the 28th Infantry Division, to Iraq as a scout platoon leader during the height of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and to Kosovo with the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team. His decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Combat Action Badge. Commissioned through Officer Candidate School as a Distinguished Graduate, he holds a Master of Science in Management and Organizational Leadership from Delaware Valley College.

After retirement, Guthrie founded Patriot Enterprises USA LLC, a certified service-disabled veteran-owned small business, where he serves as Chief Executive Officer. He has walked the road from uniform to ownership himself — through federal certification, contracting, and the realities of building a veteran-owned company from the ground up.

That experience is exactly what he brings to The Eight Fifty Committee’s advisory board: command-level leadership, hard-won knowledge of the veteran business landscape, and a shared conviction that those who served deserve a clear path to opportunity. His counsel directly strengthens the Committee’s Veteran Business Directory and its SDVOSB and VOSB certification assistance programs.
