Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Application Opens April 6

March 31, 2026  |  By Shawn Cosner

The application window for the SSG Fox Suicide Prevention Grant (FY2027) opens April 6 and closes June 12, 2026. The Eight Fifty Committee will be applying for the maximum $750,000 award through our fiscal sponsor, Veterans Collaborative.

North Central West Virginia currently has zero coverage from any existing Fox grantee. The only West Virginia county served by a current Fox grant recipient is Mingo County, through a Kentucky-based organization. Our six-county service area, home to over 21,000 veterans across Preston, Monongalia, Marion, Harrison, Taylor, Wood, and surrounding areas, represents a significant gap in the national suicide prevention infrastructure.

Preston County’s veteran crisis rate of 92.0 per 100,000 is 161% above the national average. West Virginia ranks fourth in the nation for veteran suicide rate at 55.6 per 100,000. This grant would fund direct community-based suicide prevention services where they are needed most and where they currently do not exist.

We will share updates as the application progresses.
